Getting started

What e-NABLE Web Central is, and how a request goes from "I need a hand" to a finished device.

e-NABLE Web Central connects people who need a 3D-printed hand, arm, or other assistive device with e-NABLE volunteers who make them, for free. It's run by volunteers for the e-NABLE community.

The journey of a request

Step What happens Who does it
1. Request sent The family describes what's needed and adds sizing photos. Family
2. Email confirmed The family clicks the link we email them. Family
3. Volunteers invited The closest suitable volunteers are invited automatically. More are invited every few days until someone says yes. Automatic
4. Volunteer found The first volunteer to take the request is matched. Both sides get each other's contact details. Volunteer
5. Device made The volunteer sizes, prints, assembles, and fits the device, posting updates as they go. Volunteer
6. Delivered The volunteer marks it delivered; the family confirms (or asks for an adjustment). Both

There's nothing for the family to approve along the way.

Your dashboard

After logging in, My dashboard shows everything relevant to you:

  • Your device requests and their status, if you've asked for a device.
  • Invitations, requests you're making, and open requests near you, if you volunteer.

One account can do both: request a device and volunteer.

Getting help

  • Look through these help pages (the menu on the left).
  • Ask the e-NABLE community on the forum.
  • On a request, families can press I need help to reach a coordinator.
