Does it cost anything?

No. e-NABLE devices are always free. Volunteers donate their time and materials.

How long does it take?

It depends on the volunteers near you and the type of device. Most volunteers make a device in 2–6 weeks once matched. Matching is often quick in areas with many volunteers, and slower in remote areas.

Are these medical devices?

No. e-NABLE devices are helper hands and tools made by volunteers. They aren't medical devices or prescription prosthetics. If you work with a doctor or therapist, it's a good idea to include them.

What kind of device can I get?

Most e-NABLE hands need a palm and a wrist that bends; most arms need an elbow that bends. Designs for above-elbow differences are still experimental. See the devices page and Which design? on the e-NABLE Hub.

I'm not sure which device to choose.

That's fine! Leave it on "I'm not sure". Your volunteer will help you decide.

Why do you need my location?

To find volunteers near you. Only your city and region are shown to volunteers until one takes your request.

No volunteer has taken my request yet.

We keep inviting volunteers automatically, and after a week a coordinator steps in. Adding more sizing photos helps. You can also contact a nearby e-NABLE chapter.

My volunteer isn't responding.

Press I need help on your request page and a coordinator will follow up.

I'm a volunteer and can't finish a request.

Open the request and choose I can't continue with this request. We'll find someone else right away.

Does e-NABLE Web Central replace the e-NABLE Hub or forum?

No. The e-NABLE Hub and forum are where the community shares designs, learns, and asks questions. e-NABLE Web Central is for matching people who need devices with volunteers.

What happened to badges?

Volunteers no longer need digital badges. Each request explains the skills needed, and volunteers decide for themselves whether they're confident to take it on.
